Rattaje and the Pirkštejn Bell Tower

I discovered the Pirkstein Bell Tower restoration project through the Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 community while I was working freelance as a cultural heritage photographer. I wanted to document the restoration project as I am curious about all things fandom funded!
History of Pirkstein Bell Tower
Pirkstein was founded in the 14th century by Jindřich of Lipá and was initially part of the town’s fortifications. In the 15th century it suffered a fire but was later restored and used mainly as a residence.
In 1627 Pirkstein suffered damage during a peasant uprising, and fell into neglect. In the early 18th century, it was converted into a parish house, with its tower turned into a bell tower.

Second visit, February 10th 2026
On my second visit in February the Bell Tower stairs were boarded up to protect from the elements.
Above is the gothic emblem of the Lords of Lipá at Pirkštejn in Rataje from 1312 to 1463. It features two spires, representing two laurel branches. The coat of arms was discovered in 1891 during the construction of a road. It originates from an older church dating back to the 14th century.
Visit Rattay and Pirkstein for the Rattay Tournament 13th June 2026
On the 13th of June 2026 join in on the medieval celebration at Rattay Castle, there will be all sorts of events throughout the day, including a farkle dice games, archery competition, a parade, and the much anticipated medieval combat tournament!
Additional activities throughout the day such as horseback riding, axe throwing, KCD actors, Warhorse developers, bandit and Cuman camp, Sukuba Ensemble band and more!

Tours are always on the hour and tickets can be purchased at the Information Centre.
